NOVELTY - A rope-shaped supercapacitor comprises an electrode (11) consisting of a electroconductive porous rod (r1) having pores and a mixture (m1) of a electrode active material (a1) and an electrolyte (t1), a porous separator (15) wrapping around or encasing the electrode (11) to form a separator-protected electrode (se1), an electrode (17) comprising an electroconductive porous rod (r2) having pores and a mixture (m2) of a electrode active material (a2) and a electrolyte (t1), and a protective casing or sheath (19) wrapping around or encasing a braid or yarn. The pores of the rod (r2) comprises the mixture resides (m2). The electrode active materials (a1) and (a2) contain several particles of a carbon material and/or several graphene sheets comprising single-layer graphene or multi-layer graphene having 1-10 graphene planes. The particles of carbon material or graphene sheets have specific surface area of 500 m2/g or more, when measured in a dried state. USE - Rope-shaped supercapacitor e.g. lithium-ion capacitor and sodium-ion capacitor used in garment, belt, carrying strap, luggage strap, weaponry strap, musical instrument strap, helmet, hat, boot, foot covering, glove, wrist covering, watch band, jewelry, animal collar or animal harness, and void or interior compartment of vehicle (all claimed) e.g. electric vehicle. Can also be used in smart mobile gadget, roll-up display, wearable device, and biomedical sensor. ADVANTAGE - The supercapacitor is flexible, shape-conformable and economical, and has high active material loading rate, high electrode thickness without decreasing electron and ion transport rates, low overhead weight and volume, high volumetric capacitance, high gravimetric energy density, and high volumetric energy density. The active materials in the supercapacitor have high apparent density. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The separator-protected electrode (se1) and the electrode (17) are combined or interlaced together to form the braid or yarn. The pores of the electroconductive porous rod (r1) comprises the mixture resides. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for production of the supercapacitor.
