NOVELTY - Producing platinum alloy catalyst comprises (a) adding platinum precursor, transition metal precursor and carbon-based support in a solvent, pulverizing and stirring to prepare a dispersion; (b) adjusting the pH of the dispersion; (c) heating and stirring the pH-controlled dispersion to reduce a platinum precursor and a transition metal precursor to obtain a platinum alloy catalyst solution; and (d) filtering and drying the obtained catalyst solution to obtain a platinum alloy catalyst powder. USE - The catalyst is useful in electrode for fuel cell (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables economical manufacture of platinum alloy catalyst having excellent catalytic activity and durability.
