NOVELTY - Method of partially oxidizing carbon material involves reacting carbon material which contains greater than or equal to 1 graphene structure selected from graphite, multilayer graphene, and single layer graphene with greater than or equal to 1 peroxide selected from organic peroxide and hydrogen peroxide. USE - Method of partially oxidizing carbon material for producing graphene oxide (claimed). ADVANTAGE - Carbon material can be oxidized, without producing lattice defect. Even when oxidized, graphene oxide can have both electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) graphene oxide obtained by performing partial oxidation; and (2) composition containing graphene oxide.
