NOVELTY - Catalyst for producing pyromellitic dianhydride from durene comprises a carrier and an active component loaded on the carrier. The active component contains 5-10 wt.% vanadium oxide, optionally 0-0.5 wt.% phosphorus compounds, 0.1-1 wt.% cesium compounds, 1-8 wt.% auxiliary agent, 1-8 wt.% heat conducting material and 88-93 wt.% titanium dioxide. USE - Used as catalyst for producing pyromellitic dianhydride from durene. ADVANTAGE - When the catalyst is used in the reaction of producingpyromellitic dianhydride from durene, the conversion rate of durene and the yield of homoanhydride can be efficiently improved. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: preparing the catalyst, comprising loading the slurry containing vanadium source, optional phosphorus source, cesium source, auxiliary agent compound, heat conducting material and titanium source on the carrier, drying and oven-drying to obtain the catalyst, where the viscosity of the slurry is 10-40 mPa.s; catalyst prepared by the above preparation method; reactor for producing pyromellitic dianhydride from durene, comprising at least two catalyst beds, each catalyst bed is filled with the catalyst, in the reactor, along the flow direction of the stream, the vanadium oxide content contained in the catalyst in each catalyst bed layer increases successively; and producingpyromellitic dianhydride from durene, comprising introducing durene and oxygen-containing gas into the reactor, and sequentially contacting and reacting with the catalysts in each catalyst bed to obtain homoanhydride.
