NOVELTY - Preparing reinforced polypropylene separator involves adding 1 pts. wt. graphene oxide by Hummers-method to 100-1000 pts. vol. 95:5 ethylene glycol monomethyl ether solution, ultrasonically dispersing, adding 2-5 pts. wt. long-chain alkyl silane coupling agent, and stirring at room temperature for 30 minutes. Temperature is raised to slight reflux reaction for 5-10 hours, lowered, centrifuged, collected solid is washed with petroleum ether, and centrifuged to collect solid and dried. 1 pts. wt. Long-chain alkyl-modified graphene oxide is added to 10-50 pts. wt. polypropylene, and melt-kneaded with 80-150 rotation per minute (rpm) at 190-220 degrees C for 25 minutes, and subjected to twin screw extrusion and granulation. 10 pts. wt. Graphene oxide/polypropylene particles, 50-100 pts. wt. polypropylene, 1-5 pts. wt. cross-linking agent and 0.05-0.3 pts. wt. antioxidant are mixed, subjected to melt extrusion, annealing, cold stretching, hot stretching, heat setting, and irradiation crosslinking. USE - Method for preparing reinforced polypropylene separator used for lithium ion battery (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables to prepare reinforced polypropylene separator that has good high-temperature resistance, high mechanical strength and high porosity.
