NOVELTY - Preparation of magnetic graphene oxide composite material involves dispersing graphite oxide and ferric salt in solution (A), ultrasonically processing, adding crosslinking agent, filtering, washing using water, adding aqueous solution of xanthate, filtering, washing and drying. USE - Preparation of magnetic graphene oxide composite material used for removing heavy metal ion e.g. hexavalent chromium, divalent lead, divalent nickel, divalent cadmium and mercury ion, and organic pollutant e.g. phenol, methyl orange, methylene blue, rhodamine B and orange IV in water (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables safe preparation of magnetic graphene oxide composite material having excellent recyclability, by simple, economical and environmentally-friendly process with high yield. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for usage method of magnetic graphene oxide composite material for removing heavy metal ion and organic pollutant in water, which involves adjusting pH of water containing heavy metal ion and/or organic pollutant to 9 or less, adding magnetic graphene oxide composite material, stirring for 0.5-8 hours, placing in external magnetic field, and separating.
