NOVELTY - The synthesis method of sulfonated graphene involves using aryl diazonium salt as sulfonating agent, 1.5-3.5 g p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid, and 0.5-1.3 g sodium nitrite, adding 20 ml 2% sodium hydroxide solution and 2 g p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid to a 100 ml beaker, dissolving 2 g sulfanilic acid in a warm water bath at 15-55 degrees C, adding 0.5-1.3 g sodium nitrite to the solution at 15-35 degrees C, dissolving sodium nitrite in the mixed solution, pouring solution into 10 ml ice water containing 1 ml concentrated hydrochloric acid, stirring, heating to obtain an aryl diazonium salt solution. USE - Synthesis of sulfonated graphene used for preparing sulfonated graphene/Nafion (RTM: Tetrafluoroethylene copolymer) composite membrane (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables the synthesis of sulfonated graphene suitable for preparing sulfonated graphene/Nafion (RTM: Tetrafluoroethylene copolymer) composite membrane having water absorption increased from 16-64, swelling degree increased from 47-82%, ion exchange capacity increased from 1.07-1.39 meq.g1, sulfonation degree of 0.35-0.47, and ion exchange capacity of 1.22 meq.g1. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The synthesis method of sulfonated graphene involves using aryl diazonium salt as sulfonating agent, 1.5-3.5 g p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid, and 0.5-1.3 g sodium nitrite, adding 20 ml 2% sodium hydroxide solution and 2 g p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid to a 100 ml beaker, dissolving 2 g sulfanilic acid in a warm water bath at 15-55 degrees C, adding 0.5-1.3 g sodium nitrite to the solution at 15-35 degrees C, dissolving sodium nitrite in the mixed solution, pouring the solution into 10 ml ice water containing 1 ml concentrated hydrochloric acid, stirring, heating at 0-5 degrees C for 15-50 minutes to obtain an aryl diazonium salt solution, adding 100-300 mg solid graphene oxide to 30 ml water to obtain graphene oxide aqueous solution at 15-25 degrees C, uniformly mixing, maintaining in a certain temperature range, dripping diazonium salt solution to graphene oxide aqueous solution, maintaining at certain temperature, centrifuging the reaction mixture, washing with deionized water for several times to obtain sulfonated graphene solution, and freeze-drying in a freeze-drier. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of sulfonated graphene/Nafion (RTM: Tetrafluoroethylene copolymer) composite membrane, which involves ultrasonically dispersing sulfonated graphene in 0.01-0.05 g/ml dimethylformamide solution at 80-100 Hz, and 40-60 degrees C.
