NOVELTY - Supported metal ruthenium catalyst comprises ruthenium as active component, and load material, which is nitrogen-containing nano-carbon material i.e. carbon nanotube, graphite or graphene, where ruthenium is at 2.00-8.00 mass%, nitrogen content is 6.00-10.00 mass%, and specific surface area is 400-700 m2/g. USE - The supported metal ruthenium catalyst is used for electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The catalyst has high specific surface area, good conductivity, greatly improved catalytic activity and stability of hydrogen evolution reaction, and simple preparation, which is easy to control. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of the catalyst comprising mixing and grinding ruthenium salt, nitride, glucose and nano-carbon material to obtain uniformly mixed solid powder, and calcining in atmosphere of nitrogen.
