NOVELTY - Graphenol compound comprises a two-dimensional graphene sheet formed by connecting multiple of carbon atoms; and multiple hydroxy groups provided on one surface of the graphene sheet. Multiple carbon-oxygen bonds connecting the multiple hydroxy groups and the graphene sheet are provided in a predetermined direction to be parallel to each other. USE - The graphenol compound is useful in biological and medical research fields. ADVANTAGE - The method prepares two-dimensional graphenol material with high purity, can predict and control the physical properties of the synthesized graphenol by providing graphenol in which functional groups provided on the surface of the two-dimensional material are aligned in a predetermined direction. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for synthesizing graphenol comprising (i) providing a metal substrate, (ii) growing graphene on the metal substrate, and (iii) supplying water vapor onto the graphene to introduce a hydroxy group on one surface of the graphene.
