NOVELTY - Anode material comprises crystalline graphite carbon structure and amorphous carbon structure positioned on at least a portion of crystalline graphite carbon structure, where the amorphous carbon structure is doped with heterogeneous element. USE - The anode material is useful for sodium metal battery and sodium secondary battery (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The anode material is attractive, has higher energy density, excellent lifespan characteristics, low overvoltage, high redox activity and high electrochemical performance, controls crystallinity and surface properties, and maintains battery capacity for long time. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for manufacturing anode material, comprising (a) preparing a carbon material, (b) heat-treating the carbon material, and (c) treating carbon material with at least one heterogeneous precursors to functionalize it as heterogeneous element.
