▎ 摘 要
NOVELTY - Production of functionalized graphene and/or graphite nanoplatelet structures having less than 100 nm thickness in electrochemical cell comprises passing current through cell to effect electrochemical reduction of diazonium species to produce functionalizing species which undergoes grafting reaction at negative electrode and intercalate ions into negative electrode to effect exfoliation. The cell comprises graphitic negative electrode, positive electrode, and electrolyte comprising ions in solvent and diazonium species. USE - Method for producing functionalized graphene and/or graphite nanoplatelet structures having less than 100 nm thickness in electrochemical cell. ADVANTAGE - The method provides convenient electrochemical functionalization and exfoliation of graphite to obtain edge-functionalized graphene, which is more advantageous than traditional basal plane functionalization because edge-functionalized materials have improved solubility and processability, without sacrificing desirable electronic and physical properties. The processes in the method also occur contemporaneously so that there is no need to remove or alter potential difference between electrodes.
