NOVELTY - A graphene hybrid particle-polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) flame retardant (I) is new. USE - New graphene hybrid particle-polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane flame retardant used as additive in preparation of polyolefin-based polymer flame retardant (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The graphene hybrid particle-polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane flame retardant is halogen-free environmentally-friendly, and can generate synergistic effect, and increase limiting oxygen index of polystyrene to 26.5%, and limiting oxygen index of polypropylene to 25.9%. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A graphene hybrid particle-polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) flame retardant of formula (I) is new. R = methyl, ethyl, propyl, or butyl. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) manufacture of compound (I); and (2) usage of the graphene hybrid particle flame retardant as an additive in preparation of polyolefin-based polymer flame retardant.
