NOVELTY - Zinc sulfide/graphene composite material comprises zinc sulfide mesoporous spheres and graphene, where zinc sulfide mesoporous sphere is coated with graphene. USE - The composite material is useful in cathode material for lithium ion battery or sodium ion battery (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The composite material has improved reaction rate and electrochemical performance. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) preparing zinc sulfide/graphene composite material comprising (i) preparing zinc sulfide mesoporous sphere, (ii) freeze-treating mixture containing zinc sulfide mesoporous sphere and graphene oxide and drying to obtain graphene oxide-coated zinc sulfide mesoporous sphere, and (iii) subjecting graphene oxide-coated zinc sulfide mesoporous sphere to reduction treatment at 350-450 degrees C in atmosphere containing hydrogen to obtain zinc sulfide/graphene composite material; (2) cathode material comprising zinc sulfide/graphene composite material; and (3) lithium ion battery or sodium ion battery comprising cathode material.
