NOVELTY - Anode active material containing nitrogen-doped carbon-coated nickel nanomaterials is claimed. The anode active material is a composite material containing 0.5-15 wt.% nitrogen-doped carbon-coated nickel nanomaterial, 5-25 wt.% graphene and 55-90 wt.% elemental sulfur. The nitrogen-doped carbon-coated nickel nanomaterial comprises nitrogen-doped carbon-coated nickel nanoparticle containing metallic nickel core and nitrogen-doped graphitized carbon shell covering the surface of the metallic nickel core. The metallic nickel includes a face centered cubic lattice structure and/or a hexagonal close lattice structure. USE - The anode active material is useful for battery anode material of lithium sulfur battery (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The battery anode material can improve the charging and discharging performance of the lithium-sulfur battery at a high rate. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a battery anode material, comprising anode active material, conductive agent and binder.
