NOVELTY - A composite material comprises thermosetting polymer reinforced with natural fiber. USE - Material e.g. composite plate used for manufacturing ceramic material for armor in multilayer ballistic system (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The composite material provides economical ceramic material having reduced thickness and weight. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (i) manufacture of the composite material, which involves accommodating the fiber from fruit of Calotropis giganteafunctionalized with graphene oxide corresponding to the desired proportion of 30 vol.% within a suitable metallic mold, and adding fluid graphene oxide functionalized polyester resin and covering the mold; (ii) composite plate, which comprises the fiber from fruit of Calotropis giganteafunctionalized with graphene oxide which is used as a layer in ballistic shielding to protect against rifle shots with 7.62 mm or 5.56 mm caliber ammunition; (iii) ceramic material with a thicknesses of 7-10 mm, which is obtained using alumina doped with 4 %mass niobium with hexagonal geometry, weighing and packing the alumina powder, niobium powder and polyethylene glycol in liquid phase in a mill of alumina balls for 12 hours, and leaving for 48 hours in an oven at 80° C for drying; (iv) manufacture of the ceramic material; (v) multilayer armor, which comprises the composite plate that is bonded with polyurethane adhesive to a ceramic front layer, and responsible for eroding projectile and attenuating the impact; and (vi) composite in multilayer ballistic system.
