NOVELTY - Platinum-nickel alloy/graphene composite nano-catalyst with hollow structure, is claimed. The catalyst is provided with graphene which is used as a carrier. The hollow spherical structure of the platinum-nickel nano-alloy is uniformly loaded on the surface of graphene. USE - The catalyst is useful for methanol fuel cell. ADVANTAGE - The catalyst has good electrocatalytic property to carry out electrochemical oxidation of methanol. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparing the catalyst, comprising (i) ultrasonically dispersing the aqueous solution of graphene oxide, and adding a surfactant to the solution, and mixing by adding soluble nickel salt (II); (ii) adding a reducing agent in presence of inert gas, then adding a soluble platinum salt (IV), and carrying out reduction reaction while stirring at 0-50 degrees C, and obtaining a reaction mixture; and (iii) washing, and drying the reaction mixture and obtaining the product.
