NOVELTY - The modulator has a D-type optical fiber (1) arranged on a silica-on-silicon substrate (6) by encapsulation adhesive (4) which has low UV refractive index, and a graphene thin film (2) coated on a D-type optical fiber polishing surface. Two opposite metal electrodes (3) are arranged at two sides of the graphene thin film. The metal electrode controls transmission of bias voltage on the graphene thin film. USE - D-type graphene thin film optical fiber integrated electric light modulator. ADVANTAGE - The modulator is compact and inexpensive, consumes less power, modulates signal light in a quick manner without polarization, prevents system error, and reduces optical insertion loss.
