NOVELTY - Preparing graphene/polystyrene reinforced aqueous epoxy resin composite coating comprises (i) adding styrene monomer into aqueous solution of octadecyl dimethyl hydroxyethyl quaternary ammonium nitrate, then carrying out suspension polymerization in the presence of initiator to obtain polystyrene dispersion and adding aqueous solution of N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide to carrying out radical polymerization to obtain modified polystyrene aqueous dispersion, (ii) adding graphene to obtained modified polystyrene dispersion to obtain graphene/modified polystyrene composite reinforcing agent, and (iii) mixing the prepared graphene/modified polystyrene composite reinforcing agent with aqueous epoxy resin and aqueous epoxy resin curing agent to obtain final product. USE - The method is useful for preparing graphene/polystyrene reinforced aqueous epoxy resin composite coating. ADVANTAGE - The method: utilizes cross-linkable aqueous-based polystyrene, which improves the density of the paint film and enhances the water resistance of the system, while retains excellent physical and chemical properties of graphene; and produces graphene/polystyrene reinforced aqueous epoxy resin composite coating has excellent mechanical properties and anti-corrosion properties.
