NOVELTY - Preparation of graphene/metal carbide porous microsphere electrode involves adding natural graphite and potassium permanganate at ratio of 1:5 into 98% sulfuric acid, and ice bath stirring at 300-400 revolutions/minute (rpm) for 1-2 hours; heating to 35 degrees C for 1 hour, adding deionized water, and heating to 90-95 degrees C for 30-35 minutes; and naturally cooling to room temperature, adding 35% hydrogen peroxide, stirring at room temperature and 100-300 rpm for 10 minutes, centrifuging at 3000-3500 rpm, taking upper layer clear liquid, centrifuging, and drying at 60-80 degrees C for 1-3 hours. USE - Method for preparing graphene/metal carbide porous microsphere electrode (claimed) used for battery cathode material. ADVANTAGE - The porous microsphere electrode has good electrochemical lithium storage performance as cathode material of lithium ion battery, current density of 0.1 A/g at capacitance of more than 500 mAh/g or current density of 3 A/g at capacitance of more than 300 mAh/g, and circulating time of 500 cycles. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of graphene/metal carbide porous microsphere electrode comprises: (A) adding natural graphite and potassium permanganate at ratio of 1:5 into 98% sulfuric acid, and ice bath stirring at 300-400 revolutions/minute (rpm) for 1-2 hours; (B) heating to 35 degrees C for 1 hour, adding deionized water, and heating to 90-95 degrees C for 30-35 minutes; (C) naturally cooling to room temperature, adding 35% hydrogen peroxide, stirring at room temperature and 100-300 rpm for 10 minutes, centrifuging at 3000-3500 rpm, taking upper layer clear liquid, centrifuging at 8000-8500 rpm, and drying at 60-80 degrees C for 1-3 hours, where ratio of natural graphite and hydrogen peroxide 1 g:5-6 mL; (D) dissolving polystyrene microspheres in water; (E) adding metal chloride in graphene oxide solution, stir-reacting at 500-1000 rpm for 1-2 hours, and ultrasonically dispersing for 1-2 hours, where ratio of metal chloride to graphene oxide solution is 0.4-1 g:30 mL; (F) adding 8-15 wt.% polystyrene microsphere solution, stir-reacting at 500-1000 rpm for 1-2 hours, and ultrasonically dispersing for 1-2 hours, where ratio of polystyrene microspheres to deep color mixed solution is 50:20-40; and (G) drying at 130-180 degrees C, annealing to 180-240 degrees C for 50-80 minutes and to 750-850 degrees C for 120-150 minutes, cooling to 180-240 degrees C, and naturally cooling to room temperature.
