NOVELTY - A composite (100) consists of a substrate (101), a subsurface layer (103) comprising graphite having a cellular structure, and a graphitic layer (105) comprising graphite in an amount higher than that of graphite contained in the subsurface layer. USE - Composite is used for forming aircraft and projectiles e.g. nose cones, leading edges, and control surfaces. ADVANTAGE - The composite has excellent mechanical performance, durability, and thermal insulation properties in thickness direction, and high lateral thermal conductively along the surface, and is formed by fast process. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for formation of the composite, which involves providing the substrate comprising a polymer resin and an additive(s), performing a primary heating treatment with respect to the polymer resin and the additive using a laser for forming the subsurface layer on the substrate, and carrying out a secondary heating treatment with respect to the subsurface layer using a laser for forming the graphitic layer on the subsurface layer.
