NOVELTY - A carbon-coated graphene composite material preparation method involves dispersing graphite oxide or graphene in diluted acid solution. Different amount of polymer monomers is added in the solution, stirred and a polymer initiator is slowly added to the stirred solution. The graphite oxide or the graphene is coated by polymer and the polymer coated graphite oxide or graphene is vacuum dried. The vacuum dried coated product is ground and the ground graphite oxide or graphene is introduced into flowing protective gas. The ground graphite oxide or graphene is cooled at room temperature. USE - Method for preparing a carbon-coated graphene composite material that is utilized as a cathode material of a lithium ion battery (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The material has prolonged service life, and solves the problems caused by the overlarge specific surface and fast capacity fading problem caused by high rate. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A carbon-coated graphene composite material preparation method involves dispersing graphite oxide or graphene in diluted acid solution. Different amount of polymer monomers is added in the solution, continuously stirred and a polymer initiator is slowly added to the stirred solution for generating polymerization reaction. The graphite oxide or the graphene is coated by polymer generated through the polymerization reaction of deionized water and ethanol, and the polymer coated graphite oxide or graphene is vacuum dried after alternate cleaning for multiple times. The vacuum dried coated product is ground and the ground graphite oxide or graphene is introduced into flowing protective gas to heat for generating high temperature thermal reduction and carbonization reaction. The ground graphite oxide or graphene is cooled at room temperature.
