NOVELTY - Producing dispersible nano graphene platelet (NGP) material comprises; preparing a pristine NGP material from a graphitic material; and subjecting the pristine NGP material to an oxidation treatment to obtain the dispersible NGP material, where the NGP material has an oxygen content not greater than 25 wt.%. USE - The process is useful to produce nano graphene platelets (claimed) e.g. graphene paper, film and nanocomposite structures, which are useful in: transparent electrodes for solar cells or flat panel displays; additives for battery and supercapacitor electrodes; and conductive nano-composite for electromagnetic wave interference shielding and static charge dissipation. ADVANTAGE - The process provides: soluble and dispersible nano graphene platelets (NGPs) that are highly conducting without going through a chemical reduction procedure; NGPs as thin films; readily or easily functionalized NGPs; NGPs with no or little impurity; and separate control over dispersibility and conductivity. The process is simple and convenient.
