NOVELTY - The device (1) has a headband (3) and a muscle loop in which multiple graphene and photonic sensors (4) are embedded in fabric or stainless steel for detecting changes in the amplitude and frequency of brain waves and blood flow from seizures. The device is designed to warn of impending seizures. USE - Portable device for monitoring brain functions, for detecting the onset of seizures and changes in heart rate, breathing and muscle activity and the blood oxygen content, detecting occurrence of rhythmic muscular contractions followed by relaxation in addition to respiratory and heart rate, for monitoring of newborns at risk of intraventricular hemorrhage, monitoring of perfusion and brain function in patients undergoing brain and vital surgery, monitoring intensive care patients at normal wards in clinics, for monitoring patients affected by minor stroke at home or early discharge with epilepsy, stroke or other cerebral events use and for monitoring blood flow and function of the brain of patients affected by types of dementia (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - Better detection of blood circulation is achieved by using photonic sensors. Seizures are treated or prevented by standard emergency procedures, such as drops of medicine that are placed in the patient mouth.
