NOVELTY - Producing carbon body comprises (S1) supplying organic acid-alkali metal salt particles to the porous substrate in the reactor (10), and (S2) growing a carbon body by supplying a source containing a carbon source to the porous substrate supplied with the organic acid-alkali metal salt particles. USE - The carbon body is useful for electrodes of electrochemical storage devices e.g. secondary batteries, fuel cells or supercapacitors, electromagnetic wave shielding, field emission displays, or gas sensors and in various industries e.g. electronic devices, displays, sensors, energy storage devices, or sound absorbing materials. ADVANTAGE - The method: produces high-value-added carbon bodies in high quality and in large quantities; controls type, yield, and characteristics of the carbon body to be produced by adjusting process conditions e.g. reaction temperature or flow rate of a source; does not require additional heat treatment or acid treatment to remove impurities from the carbon body. The carbon body: has large surface area, flexibility and transparency; and has excellent mechanical strength, thermal and electrical properties. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: carbon body manufactured by the above mentioned method; and catalyst precursor for preparing a carbon body comprising an organic acid-alkali metal salt.
