NOVELTY - The preparation of lithium ion battery cathode material involves dispersing the appropriate amount of graphene powder in dimethyl formamide solution to obtain graphene oxide dispersion, adding cobalt salt and polyvinylpyrrolidone to dispersion to obtain mixed solution, adding mixed solution into hydrothermal reactor, maintaining filling degree of reactor at 75-80%, closing reactor in explosion-proof oven, raising temperature from room temperature to 195-220 degrees C at rate of 3-5 degrees C/minute for 20-40 hours, natural cooling to collect the precipitate in reactor, washing, and drying. USE - Preparation of lithium ion battery cathode material (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables preparation of lithium ion battery cathode material with stable small rate cycle performance by simple and controllable process. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The preparation of lithium ion battery cathode material involves dispersing the appropriate amount of graphene powder in dimethyl formamide solution to obtain graphene oxide dispersion having a concentration of 0.7-1.67 mg/ml, adding cobalt salt and polyvinylpyrrolidone to dispersion to obtain mixed solution, adding mixed solution into hydrothermal reactor, maintaining the filling degree of reactor at 75-80%, closing reactor in explosion-proof oven, raising temperature from room temperature to 195-220 degrees C at rate of 3-5 degrees C/minute for 20-40 hours, natural cooling to collect the precipitate in the reactor, washing, and drying. The concentration of cobalt salt in mixed solution is 0.05-0.15 M. The addition amount of polyvinylpyrrolidone is 20-30 mg per ml of dimethyl formamide solution.
