NOVELTY - Composite sulfur electrode material comprises a one-dimensional carbon nanotube grown in situ on its metal site to form a two-dimensional-one-dimensional composite material with a two-dimensional sheet material as a matrix. The sulfur element is coated on the inner and outer walls of the carbon nanotubes and embedded in the gaps formed by the interlacing of the carbon nanotubes. USE - The electrode material is useful as electrode material in metal-sulfur battery i.e. lithium sulfur battery, sodium sulfur battery, potassium sulfur battery, and/or magnesium sulfur battery (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The electrode material improves its conductivity while ensuring the excellent performance of the two-dimensional layered material, facilitates electron/ion transport, provides enough space to load sulfur and ease the volume expansion during charge and discharge, and optimizes its electrochemical performance in the field of metal sulfur batteries.
