NOVELTY - Water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion explosive comprises at least one of graphene oxide (GO), partially reduced graphene oxide (prGO) or functionalized graphene oxide (fGO). USE - The emulsion explosive is useful for blasting operations e.g. mining and quarrying applications. ADVANTAGE - The emulsion explosive: exhibits a thermal conductivity improvement that is at least 10% greater than that of the W/O emulsion explosive in the absence of the GO, prGO or fGO, exhibits a velocity of detonation improvement that is at least 10% greater than that of the W/O emulsion explosive in the absence of the GO, prGO or fGO and exhibits an emulsion stability of up to 20 days; utilizes the GO, prGO or fGO that improves property of the emulsion explosive (claimed) and the improvement in thermal conductivity property that provides beneficial detonation characteristics in a fully formulated (sensitized) emulsion explosive and the improved velocity of detonation property that is achieved without comprising density; and exhibits plastic behavior rather than the elastic or solid-like behavior due to the presence of large droplets and polydispersity, thus making it to deform easily at higher angular frequencies. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for improving at least one property of the emulsion explosive, comprising incorporating in the emulsion explosive comprising GO, prGO or fGO, where the improved property is relative to the emulsion explosive absent the GO, prGO or fGO.
