NOVELTY - Product comprises: a shape memory polymer material (22); and a graphene material (24) incorporated into the shape memory polymer material to form a polymer system, where the polymer system is capable of transforming between an original permanent shape (20A) and a temporary shape. USE - The product is useful as a polymer system (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The product utilizes the graphene material, hence exhibits improved scratch resistance, self healing powers, toughness, hardness and shape recovery properties. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) a method (M1) for improving the scratch resistance and self healing powers of a polymeric material (20) including the shape memory polymer material, comprising introducing the graphene material to the shape memory polymer material; and (2) a method (M2) for forming the polymer system, comprising: (a) forming the shape memory polymer material; (b) introducing the graphene material to the shape memory polymer to form the polymer system; (c) providing at least one substrate material (26); (d) providing the polymer system in the temporary shape; and (e) coupling the polymer system in the temporary shape to at least one of the substrate materials.
