NOVELTY - Iron-modified palladium-based hydrogenation catalyst, comprises 100 wt.% carrier, 0.001-0.1 wt.%, preferably 0.01-0.035 wt.% main catalyst palladium and 0.001-2 wt.%, preferably 0.01-0.035 wt.% promoter iron. USE - The hydrogenation catalyst is useful in selective hydrogenation reaction of acetylene (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The hydrogenation catalyst: realizes the isolation of palladium active component, improves the dispersion of the palladium metal on the surface of the carrier, and improves the activity of the catalyst, thus realizes the high conversion rate and selectivity of acetylene selective hydrogenation; has excellent reactivity at low temperature; and can realize alkyne removal at low temperature. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: preparing iron-modified palladium-based hydrogenation catalyst, comprising impregnating or spraying palladium salt solution and iron salt solution on the carrier, and drying and calcining; and use of iron-modified palladium-based hydrogenation catalyst in selective hydrogenation reaction of acetylene, where the selective hydrogenation reaction temperature is 35-100 ℃, preferably 50-60 ℃.
