NOVELTY - An aromatic compound (I), is new. USE - New aromatic compound is used as dispersion stabilizer for graphene-alkali metal salt composite used in manufacture of graphene (all claimed) used for electrical device, battery, fuel cell, and refractory metal. ADVANTAGE - The aromatic compound provides dispersion stabilizer with excellent exfoliating property, which enables stable manufacture of graphene with high yield and improved insertion and dispersion characteristics of alkali metal salt in organic solvents. The generation of graphite agglomerates during the manufacturing process is suppressed. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An aromatic compound of formula (I), is new. Ar'=4-100C aryl; M=alkali metal; X=-O-, -COO-, -SO3-, -SO2-, or -PO3- capable of binding to M by ionic bond; Y'=-CH2- or -CF2-; n=0-10; m=1-3; Z=-CH2-, -NH-, -O-, -S-, -SO2-, -CO- or -CF2-; E=H, -CH3, -SH, -OH, -NH2 or -CH2NH2; p=1-100;and l=1 or 2. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) graphene-alkali metal salt composite, which consists of graphene layers containing the aromatic compound; and (2) manufacture of graphene, which involves mixing graphite and dispersion stabilizer in the presence of a solvent, inserting the mixture between the graphene layers for increasing the interlayer spacing of graphite phase, preparing graphene-alkali metal salt composite, washing the composite and removing solvent, and exfoliating dispersion stabilizer from graphene-alkali metal salt composite.
