NOVELTY - The composite comprises a zero-valent metal, an oxide of the metal or a metallic component, which is supported on graphene. The weight ratio of the metal in the composite is 1:1-1:5. The graphene comprises graphene layers, and is supported on a surface of the graphene layer. The metallic component is inserted between the graphene layers, and is present in the composite in the form of nanoparticles. The oxide of the metal is inserted between the graphene layers. USE - The composite such as a porous phosphorus composite is useful in a composition for removing a pollutant in water or an organic solvent, where: the pollutant includes heavy metal or its cation, organic contaminant, inorganic pollutant and/or microorganism; the heavy metal includes arsenic, chromium, lead, cadmium and/or mercury; the microorganism includes virus or bacteria; the organic contaminant includes methylene blue, methyl orange, trichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene, polychlorinated biphenyl, and carbon tetrachloride; and the inorganic pollutant is perchlorate, nitrate, phosphate, carbonate, sulfate, hydrogen fluoride, hydrochloric acid, bromic acid and/or acetic acid (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The composite ensures effective removal of the pollutant in water or organic solvent, and has high quality and stability and improved adsorption ability.
