NOVELTY - Filter (200) comprises a porous substrate (110) and a graphene oxide membrane (90) on the porous substrate, where the graphene oxide membrane includes a crosslinking additive (120) between graphene oxide sheets which reduces degradation of the graphene oxide membrane by chlorine. USE - The filter is useful for filtering fluids. ADVANTAGE - The filter: improves membrane integrity; and has rejection values of 90-98.5% under alkaline conditions; and has permeance values of 13.7-29.8 (l/m2/hour/bar) when measured using the probe molecule Rose Bengal in the cross-flow apparatus. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for making the filter comprising applying a composition containing graphene oxide sheets to the porous substrate to form the graphene oxide membrane, and incorporating a crosslinking additive in the graphene oxide filter membrane to form crosslinks between graphene oxide sheets to reduce degradation on exposure to halides e.g. chlorine.
