NOVELTY - Preparing hydrophobic multi-element modified graphene quantum dot comprises sequentially adding non-aqueous solvent, carbon source, doping element precursor and catalyst into the reactor, stirring uniformly, refluxing and completing the reaction to obtain mixture A, adding hydrophobic reagent to the mixture A, where the reflux reaction is sufficient, performing solid-liquid separation, taking filtrate to remove the non-aqueous solvent to obtain hydrophobic multi-element modified graphene quantum dots, where the doping element is boron, nitrogen and/or silicon and the amount of the doping element precursor is 0.6-0.9 times that of the carbon source. USE - The quantum dot is useful in the preparation of lubricant additives, preferably lubricating oil ( all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The quantum dot can quickly form monomolecular wear-resistant silicon dioxide, boron nitride, and graphene layers at the friction point; and improves the lubricating and wear-resistant effects of lubricating oil.
