NOVELTY - Lightning arrester comprises insulating tube (31) whose both ends are sealed with conductive head. The insulating tube is filled with quartz sand (32). The quartz sand-wrapped arc-starting wire is electrically connected to the conductive heads at both ends. One end of the arrester is fixedly connected to the grounding end or the live end of the tower through the connecting piece, and the other end forms a discharge gap with the live end or the grounding end. The discharge gap is smaller than the air gap of the insulator, when the lightning overvoltage breaks down the discharge gap, the arc-starting wire is fused to cause the arc to discharge the lightning. The arc is suppressed and extinguished by the quartz sand to avoid circuit tripping. USE - The lightning arrester is used in power transmission tower lightning protection technology field for producing gas and extinguishing arc installed on pole tower, and overhead power transmission line. ADVANTAGE - The manufacturing, mounting and maintenance cost is low, reliable, safety be used in large area of transmission line of the lightning arrester, realizing greatly reducing the lightning stroke tripping rate of the transmission line. The arc is controlled by quartz sand control arc current, the arc voltage is improved, the power frequency arc is extinguished in 10 milliseconds after the lightning current is discharged, the circuit tripping is avoided, after the arc is fused. The lightning over-voltage is selected to breakdown discharge gap, so insulator string to avoid the breakdown arc ablation damage.
