NOVELTY - The blade has an exterior body including two sides, and two hairpin structures in contact with the two sides of the exterior body via fuse shears, where the structures are made from different materials. One of the structures corresponds to a stiffness, and the other structure corresponds to another stiffness different than the former stiffness. An air cavity or an elastic material is provided between the structures, where one of the air cavities of the elastic material provides shock absorption. The structures provide vibration damping or energy absorption, and include carbon nanotubes impregnated with graphene. USE - Fan blade for use in a turbine engine i.e. high-bypass geared architecture engine. Can also be used for a geared turbofan engine. ADVANTAGE - The fan blade has intrinsic damping characteristics. The fan blades spin at high speed and subsequently compress the air flow. The high-pressure compressor then feeds the pressurized air flow to a combustion chamber to generate a high-temperature, high pressure gas stream. The first hairpin structure is in contact with the second hairpin structures.
