▎ 摘  要

NOVELTY - A method (m1) of functionalizing graphene sheets of graphite involves treating graphite with an alkali metal in dry ammonia in an inert atmosphere to form a mixture; and adding an alkylating agent to the mixture. USE - For functionalizing graphene sheets of graphite (claimed) useful in the fields of electronics, nanohealth and composites. ADVANTAGE - The method provides separate individual graphene sheets. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) a polymer composite comprising polymer containing at least one monomer; and derivatized graphene sheets formed by the method (m1); (2) water soluble graphite compound comprising: derivatized graphene sheets having carboxylic acid groups; where the derivatized graphene sheets were formed by the method (m1); and a water soluble polymer covalently coupled to the carboxylic acid groups; and (3) soluble graphite compound comprising graphene sheets having covalently bound lipophilic groups, where the lipophilic groups were introduced by the method (m1).
