NOVELTY - Functional coating slurry comprises porous materials and high molecular polymers. The porous material includes organic porous material and/or inorganic porous material. The mass ratio of the high molecular polymer and the porous material is (0.1-10):1. USE - The slurry is useful for lithium-ion battery pole pieces (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The slurry: can migrate through at low temperatures; prevents ion migration at high temperatures; improves the safety of the battery; and improves the capacity and cycle life of lithium-ion batteries. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) preparing the functional coating slurry, comprising (i) heating and mixing the high molecular polymer, adhesive and solvent to obtain polymer solution, and(ii) adding porous material solution to the polymer solution obtained in the above steps, heating, mixing and reacting to obtain functional coating slurry; and (2) lithium ion battery, comprising electrode pole pieces, surface of the electrode pole piece is compounded with a functional coating, functional coating is formed by the functional coating slurry or the functional coating slurry prepared by above mentioned method.
