NOVELTY - The method involves mixing graphite and strong oxidizing agent and then diluting, washing the diluted mixture and then drying to obtain graphite oxide, adding sodium azide and chloroethanol to the obtained product and then dispersing in different solvents, allowing the dispersed product to react at room temperature to obtain azido-substituted hydroxy compound, and adding triazine having high chemical reactivity to the obtained compound and then performing functionalization treatment to obtain hydroxy functionalized graphene. USE - The method is useful for preparing hydroxy functionalized graphene, which is useful in microelectronics, nanoelectronics, machines, wire, cable and high-performance composite material (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method is capable of preparing highly substituted hydroxy functionalized graphene with improved dispersibility.
