NOVELTY - Preparing magnesium-aluminum yttrium/graphene hydrogen storage composite material comprises (i) preparing 2.03 mol/l yttrium oxalate solution, and taking 10-15 g graphite oxide, 75-90 g magnesium powder and 5-10 g aluminum powder per 0.01 l yttrium oxalate solution, (ii) adding graphite oxide into yttrium oxalate solution, and mixing the mixture to obtain mixed solution-A, (iii) freeze-drying the mixed solution-A into a solid state, reheating to sublimate water and oxalic acid to obtain yttrium(3+)/graphite oxide composite, heating the yttrium(3+)/graphite oxide composite to reduce graphite oxide to graphene and reducing yttrium(3+) to yttrium simple substance to obtain yttrium/graphene composite, and (iv) mixing the yttrium/graphene composite with magnesium powder and aluminum powder. USE - The method is useful for preparing magnesium-aluminum yttrium/graphene hydrogen storage composite material. ADVANTAGE - The method: can reduce binding energy of graphene and hydrogen atoms, improves hydrogen storage performance of graphene, reduces activation energy for hydrogen collection, accelerates hydrogen collection and release rate of the composite material and improves hydrogen storage kinetics.
