NOVELTY - Graphene production involves dispersing graphitic material in a liquid solution to prepare suspension, where the graphitic material has never been previously exposed to chemical intercalation or oxidation. The suspension is subjected to microwave or radio frequency irradiation with a frequency and intensity for a length of time sufficient for producing the graphene. The liquid solution contains a metal salt dissolved in water, organic solvent, ionic liquid solvent or their combinations. USE - Method for producing graphene used in slurry supercapacitor, sodium battery, lithium battery (all claimed), electrically conductive and larger or wider graphene sheets. ADVANTAGE - The method produces the graphene directly in a simple, precise, cost-effective and eco-friendly manner with reduced amount of undesirable chemical or expensive chemical, less energy consumption, lower degree of graphene oxidation, reduced or eliminated effluents of undesirable chemical species into the drainage (e.g., sulfuric acid) or into the air (e.g., sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide).
