NOVELTY - A graphene/molybdenum silicide composite lithium ion battery electrode is formed using composite (75-85%) of a graphene nano plate and molybdenum silicide as an active material, acetylene black (5-10%) and polyvinylidene fluoride (10%). The mass ratio of graphene nano plate and molybdenum silicide nano material in the nanocomposite active material is 1:1-4:1. USE - Graphene/molybdenum silicide composite lithium ion battery electrode. ADVANTAGE - The electrode provides lithium ion battery with excellent cycle characteristics and storage characteristics. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for manufacture of graphene/molybdenum silicide composite lithium ion battery electrode. Graphite powder (0.015-0.072 g) is dispersed in concentrated sulfuric acid (20-25 mL) in a water bath at 0 degrees C, potassium permanganate is added, stirred for 30-60 minutes and heated at 30-35 degrees C. The amount of potassium permanganate is 3-4 times of graphite. Deionized water (40-50 ml) is added, stirred for 20-30 minutes, 30% hydrogen peroxide (10-15 ml) is added, centrifuged, separated, and repeatedly washed with 5% hydrochloric acid, deionized water and acetone to obtain graphite oxide nano plate. Molybdate is dissolved in deionized water to form 0.02-0.07 M solution, and L-cysteine and reducing agent are added. The mass ratio of L-cysteine and molybdate is 5:1-12:1. Graphite oxide nano plate is added into the solution, ultrasonically processed for 1-2 hours to fully disperse graphite oxide nano plate into hydrothermal reaction solution. The mass ratio of graphite raw material and molybdate is 1:1-4:1. The mixture is transferred into a hydrothermal reactor sealed with polytetrafluoroethylene, reacted at 200-240 degrees C for 20-36 hours, centrifuged, separated, washed and dried with deionized water and absolute ethyl alcohol. The product is thermally processed at 800-1000 degrees C in 90% nitrogen and 10% hydrogen for 2 hours to obtain nanocomposite of graphite oxide nano plate and molybdenum silicide. Nanocomposite of graphite oxide nano plate is used as active material of electrode, acetylene black and 5 %mass N-methyl pyrrolidone solution of polyvinylidene fluoride are mixed and stirred. The paste is uniformly coated on a copper foil, dried and rolled to obtain electrode.
