NOVELTY - Composite comprises reduced graphene oxide supported ruthenium sulfide nanoparticles. The ruthenium sulfide nanoparticles are supported in the layered structure of the reduced graphene oxide. USE - Composite used in bifunctional catalyst of electrochemical neutralization energy battery for hydrogen evolution reaction and hydrogen oxidation reaction (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The composite used in battery provide an open circuit voltage of 0.82V, when the discharge current density reaches 88.1mA cm-2, then the maximum power density of the battery reaches 37.7mWcm-2, has good stability, and prepared in a simple and cost-effective manner, and has the potential to be used in large-scale industrial treatment of acid and alkali wastewater. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) method for prreparing composite, which involves ultrasonicating the solution containing graphene oxide, ruthenium precursor, and reducing agent, freeze-drying, and calcining in an inactive atmosphere to obtain desired product; and (2) bifunctional catalyst comprises composite; and (3) electrochemical neutralization energy battery comprises cathode, catholyte, diaphragm, anode and anolyte, where cathode contains a cathode catalyst, and anode contains an anode catalyst, where cathode catalyst and the anode catalyst comprises composite of reduced graphene oxide supported ruthenium sulfide nanoparticles.
