NOVELTY - Preparing superhydrophobic silicon dioxide comprises (i) mixing natural quartz sand powder and graphene powder, sintering under inert atmosphere or purifying atmosphere, acid washing and oxidizing to obtain an intermediate product, (ii) mixing the intermediate product with natural quartz sand powder, sintering under inert atmosphere or purifying atmosphere and acid washing, and (iii) sintering under oxidizing atmosphere or reducing atmosphere. USE - The method is useful for preparing superhydrophobic silicon dioxide. ADVANTAGE - The method is simple and utilizes low quality raw materials, which are economical. The silicon dioxide has high purity of 99.9% and uniform density. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for silicon dioxide prepared by the above method.
