NOVELTY - A cyclohexa-2,5-diene-1,4-diimine compound (I), is new. USE - New cyclohexa-2,5-diene-1,4-diimine compound used in composition for forming oligoaniline (all claimed) for forming polyaniline e.g. elastomers. Uses include but are not limited to reducing or oxidizing agent in redox reaction, redox active dye, anticorrosive coating, composite with graphene oxide, organic clay, solar cell component, tissue engineering component, organic catalyst for oxidation, and biomedical application. ADVANTAGE - The oligoaniline formed using compound (I) has excellent purity with high yield, and is manufactured by simple purification techniques e.g. washing. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A cyclohexa-2,5-diene-1,4-diimine compound of formula (I), is new. R1-R8 = H, halo, hydroxy, amino, silanol, sulfonyl, thiol, carboxy, phosphato, ester group, carbonate ester, thioester, amido, nitro, monovalent hydrocarbyl, organoxy, aminooxy, hydroxyamino, azo, organosilyl, organothio, alkyl, acryl, acyl, acryl, or sulfone;#or R1-R8+neighbouring R = ring;#m,n = 1 or more;and#m+n = 20 or more. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: 1. a composition, which comprises 90-99 wt.% compound (I)-(III); 2. formation of oligoaniline of formula (III), which involves (a) reducing nitrogen dioxide compound (A) to provide a composition comprising the oligoaniline (III), and (b) purifying oligoaniline (III) from the composition; and 3. manufacture of compound (I).
