NOVELTY - Negative electrode whose surface supports metal catalyst nanoparticles, where the metal catalyst comprises chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, ruthenium, iridium, palladium, silver, platinum and/or gold. USE - The negative electrode is used for molten salt electrolytic conversion of carbon dioxide for synthesizing multi-walled carbon nanotubes (claimed), energy saving and emission reduction and nano material synthesis such as carbon nanotube, graphene and carbon nanofiber. ADVANTAGE - The method does not need pre-electrolytic nucleation process, shortens process period, improves the production efficiency and economic benefit, and obtains carbon nano-tube without subsequent purification, the purity is more than or equal to 99% which can directly satisfy industrial and commercial requirements. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing the negative electrode, which involves growing metal catalyst nanoparticles on the negative electrode surface by impregnation-sintering, electrochemical deposition or atomic layer deposition.
