NOVELTY - Making a graphene-biopolymer composite material, comprises: contacting an ionic liquid with a biopolymer and graphene, to form a mixture; contacting the mixture with a non-solvent, to form the graphene-biopolymer composite material in the non-solvent; and collecting the graphene-biopolymer composite material from the non-solvent. USE - The method is useful for making a graphene-biopolymer composite material which is used: in a composition for manufacturing an article (all claimed); as biodegradable materials for biomedical applications including scaffolds for tissue regeneration; as adsorbent materials for metal extraction of filtration systems; and as a coating on a substrate.
