NOVELTY - Manufacture of carbon macrotube (90) involves providing at least one layer of graphene, and wrapping at least one layer of graphene around scaffold material. USE - Manufacture of carbon macrotube. Uses include but are not limited to structural materials used in aerospace components, armor, high-tension support cables, wires and electrical conductors used in high voltage power transmission lines. ADVANTAGE - The method enables manufacture of carbon macrotube capable of providing lightweight electrical conductors having excellent electrical properties, and high tensile strength. A cable prepared using carbon macrotube is capable of supporting thin layered conductor/dielectric parallel and coaxial structures which transmit large data rates.
