NOVELTY - Preparing high specific surface area magnesium hydroxide/graphene composite material involves preparing magnesium hydroxide solution by dissolving brucite in deionized water and filtering solid insoluble matter. The graphene is added to magnesium hydroxide aqueous solution, where amount of graphene is 0.01-10% of the total mass of the magnesium hydroxide aqueous solution. The mixture is ultrasonically dispersed and pH value of mixture is adjusted to 2-10 by adding dilute acid or dilute alkali to the magnesium hydroxide/graphene electrolyte. USE - Method for preparing high specific surface area magnesium hydroxide/graphene composite material used as adsorbent (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables to prepare high specific surface area magnesium hydroxide/graphene composite material in simple and cost-effective manner under mild reaction conditions that has uniform granularity, controllable shape and wide range of applications. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing high specific surface area magnesium hydroxide/graphene composite material involves preparing magnesium hydroxide solution by dissolving brucite in deionized water and filtering solid insoluble matter. The electrolysis of magnesium hydroxide/graphene electrolyte is carried out at 20-80 degrees C at current density of 0.05-1.0 Ampere/cm2. The obtained electrolysis product is dried at 100-250 degrees C for 60-300 minutes to obtain magnesium hydroxide/graphene composite material having specific surface area of 100-700 m2/g.
