NOVELTY - Preparing styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer graft-modified graphene comprises e.g. using improved Hummers method to obtain oxidized graphene, dispersing maleic anhydride graft and graphene oxide in organic solvent to prepare suspension, reacting at 35-80 degrees C for 3-6 degrees C, where the mass ratio of graphene oxide and the maleic anhydride is 1:10-1:30, the organic solvent is toluene, benzene, N, N-dimethyl formamide or N,N-dimethyl acetamide, and adding free radical initiator, styrene, maleic anhydride, reacting at 70-100 degrees C for 1-3 hours, washing reaction product by solvent, centrifugal separation. USE - The method is useful for preparing styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer graft-modified graphene (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The graphene contains well dispersed material and form stable chemical bonding, and improves polymer mechanical and thermal property. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer graft-modified graphene comprises (i) using improved Hummers method to obtain oxidized graphene, (ii) dispersing maleic anhydride graft and graphene oxide in organic solvent to prepare suspension, reacting at 35-80 degrees C for 3-6 degrees C, where the mass ratio of the graphene oxide and the maleic anhydride is 1:10-1:30, the organic solvent is toluene, benzene, N, N-dimethyl formamide or N,N-dimethyl acetamide, and (iii) adding free radical initiator, styrene, maleic anhydride, reacting at 70-100 degrees C for 1-3 hours, where the mass ratio of maleic anhydride grafted graphene oxide, maleic anhydride, and styrene is 1:10:10-1:30:30, washing reaction product with solvent, centrifugal separation, drying, obtaining styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer with graphene oxide, where the free radical initiator is azobisisobutyrynitrile, azo-bis-isoheptonitrile or benzoyl peroxide.
