NOVELTY - A cobalt sulfide and graphene composite electrode material preparing method involves preparing graphene oxide by sonicating graphite oxide and ethylene glycol and centrifuging. The graphene oxide is discarded, which is not exfoliated. An emulsion of graphene oxide and cobalt hydroxide preparing process is performed by adding ammonia-water to graphene oxide solution to adjust pH followed by adding cobalt chloride and carrying out ultrasonic treatment. The prepared emulsion is stirred and aging is carried out. Thiourea reducing agent is added to suspension, refluxed, filtered and dried. USE - Method for preparing cobalt sulfide and graphene composite electrode material that is utilized as cathode catalyst for a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell. ADVANTAGE - The method enables preparing cobalt sulfide and graphene composite electrode material with high-activity, high stability, improved catalytic activity and improved cell properties and without poisonous reductant in simple, convenient, and cost-effective manner. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A cobalt sulfide and graphene composite electrode material preparing method involves preparing graphene oxide by taking graphite oxide and ethylene glycol, carrying out sonicating and centrifuging. The graphene oxide is discarded, which is not exfoliated to obtain graphene oxide solution. An emulsion of graphene oxide and cobalt hydroxide preparing process is performed by adding ammonia-water to graphene oxide solution to adjust pH followed by adding cobalt chloride and carrying out ultrasonic treatment for 10-30 minutes, where the ratio of the graphene oxide and cobalt hydroxide is 1:10-3:10. The prepared emulsion is uniformly stirred for 15-25 hours and aging is carried out at 30-60 degrees C for 10-15 hours. Thiourea reducing agent is added to resulting suspension under ultrasound at 100-170 degrees C for 10-40 minutes, refluxed for 20 hours, filtered, and dried under vacuum, where the ratio of thiourea reducing agent and cobalt hydroxide is 4:3 to obtain cobalt sulfide and graphene composite electrode material.
